Vote to save magnum Ice rink Empty Vote to save magnum Ice rink

The following message is posted opn the Magnum skating club home page. please vote to save Magnum ice rink

http://petitions.number10.gov.uk/save-our-ice.

As many of you will be aware, North Ayrshire Leisure in conjunction with North Ayrshire Council has started making plans for the replacement of the Magnum Leisure Centre.
They have commissioned and independent report which recommends the following:
Building a new leisure centre in Irvine.
Locating new centre on the Recreation Park site.
Focusing the ice sports development in Irvine, where ice facilities are in high demand.
But instead what they have decided to do is:
Renovate Auchenharvie Ice Rink, where demand is already in decline.
A joint venture with the NHS to relocate the leisure facilities to the old Ayrshire Central site, WITHOUT ice facilities.
We would now like to ask you to support our campaign to retain Ice facilities in Irvine by signing our online petition.
Please visit http://petitions.number10.gov.uk/save-our-ice.

Vote to save magnum Ice rink Empty Magnum petition

Post by KAMEasey Mon Apr 04, 2011 12:06 pm

Hello there.

Im a local from North Ayrshire - Irvine, and we are wanting your help with our petition.
If you could get people to sign this petition we will be ever so grateful.

Sunday 3rd April was the last ever skate sessions. Soon the whole building will be knocked down and replaced with flats and another Golf Course, on top of 3-5 others.

Hi. Yes it's a shame the Magnum has closed. we were there for the Opens last month. The petition closed in 2010 so i dont think anyone will be able to add their signature. is there a fresh petition somewhere?

Vote to save magnum Ice rink Empty mr george a kerr

Post by georgebhoy1 Thu Apr 14, 2011 12:05 am

[i would not like to see the magnum shut.I think NAC want to shut the magnum so that they can sell the land to property speculators to create posh housing in the shore area.NAC do not have the interests off the people off Irvine at heart. In my opinion they are the worst council in scotland, they make the policies to suit the Council, not the people of North Ayrshire. They turned Irvine Royal Academy into an office block and transferred the ROYAL Academy to Ravenspark Academy.Did Robert The Bruce know about Ravenspark Academy,of course he did not,it was not there when he gave the Royal stamp to Irvine Royal Academy.Ravenspark Academy is not a Royal Academy and should not be called so.NAC have spoiled the Marymass Fair by not allowing drink to be transported by the public to the Moor because they cannot control louts who cause trouble at our yearly festive occassion. They seem to forget that a lot off responsible families go to the moor to have a good time and enjoythe day and the races, greasy pole, etc, and have a picnic and a refreshment and enjoy themselves without causing any problems. They ban drink for the common five eights, but the councillors and their hangers ons can still drink in the Paddock.Who is Marymass for?Is it for the PEOPLE or the precious few?Lets get rid off the present North Ayrshire Council and vote in people who care about representing the people who vote for them. And we can start with Mr Brian Donohoe.
